History
The Collaborative Regional Direct Services Collaborative was established as an incorporated entity under Maryland State Law in 2018 and was granted its tax-exemption status as a non-profit organization in November 2020. It has established working partnerships with a wide range of public and private sector organizations across the jurisdictions of Maryland and the District of Columbia. In carrying out its work, the Collaborative embraces the principle of “team building”; the requisite for assuring a full and open sharing of knowledge and ideas in tackling the difficult issues confronting the frontline direct services workforce.
Unlike similar initiatives being developed and implemented in other states and jurisdictions throughout the nation that tend to function as part of a public agency, the Collaborative has chosen the pathway which established itself as a free-standing non-profit organization. By selection this role as an independent public-private partnership, the Collaborative views this desired approach as effectively enabling the needed levels of efficacy and flexibility of purpose essential for carrying out its mission.
